What would happen if electronic music met an old archive crammed with vintage clips?
The organisers (Oak Editions and Archivio Italiano Paesaggi Sonori) of the Festival "Human Scapes (Paesaggi Umani)" curated by the national association Archivio Italiano dei Paesaggi Sonori (A.I.P.S.) and Trans Tv have tried to give a practical answer to this question; from 21 to 27 September 2014 they will be present at the cineporto of Bari and Lecce with cineinstallations, talks on electroacoustic music, free workshops on acoustic ecology set in Lecce’s historical city center and especially with a series of live performances which includes some of the most interesting names of the local ambient electroacoustic scene.
"Human Scapes Festival" therefore functions as a twofold festival: the double face of a Janus in the digital era, its two souls breathing their life into two cities and throughout two distinct yet connected moments, linked by the common thread of mnemonic sounds.
Festival schedule step by step:
From 21 to 23 September at the Cineporto of Bari talks curated by radio presenter Nicola Catalano, live perfomances by A.I.P.S. musicians (moving from Franz Rosati with his magnet-like representation of sounds, to Alberto Boccardi’s isolationism and electroacoustic blades, from Attilio Novellino and Saverio Rosi’s incessant vitality and magmatic sounds to the poetic minimalism in Alessio Ballerini, getting through the fascination of the emotional landscape in Francesco Giannico and reaching the astral manipulation of Fabio Perletta’s drones/ beats/ sinusoids) and cineinstallations taking place inside the cineporto of Bari where you will listen to other still quite popular names for the enthusiasts of the genre like Giulio Aldinucci, Matteo Uggeri and Giovanni Lami.
From 26 to 27 settembre at the Cineporto of Lecce a workshop on acoustic ecology will be held to create the sound mapping of Lecce’s historical center.
The workshop meetings (we remind you that they are free) are intended to those who would like to enhance their knowledge on the soundscape of their own city (here too there will be a final live performance) and submissions will be accepted up to 20 people whose cv is judged to be most suitable and with the final decision of the organization.
The workshop will be coordinated by Francesco Giannico e Alessio Ballerini, founders of Archivio Italiano dei Paesaggi Sonori.
